Gazira State remains a hotbed of violence and human rights violations as the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) persist in terrorizing civilians and targeting villages. Since their incursion into the region, Gazira State residents have endured a relentless onslaught of killings, looting, and displacement, with even individuals protected under international law, such as doctors, falling victim to these atrocities.

According to reports from the Al-Husahissa Resistance Committees, the village of Wad Balila has been under siege, enduring consecutive attacks by the RSF over two days. Tragically, six citizens lost their lives in the onslaught, with ten others sustaining injuries. The brutality of the attacks has forced villagers to evacuate women and children to seek refuge in neighboring communities.

The Sudanese Observatory for Human Rights condemns these egregious violations as grave threats to human rights and the well-being of the Sudanese people. We urgently call upon the RSF to cease their campaign of looting and intimidation against innocent civilians. Additionally, we urge the international community and humanitarian organizations to denounce these crimes and classify the Rapid Support Forces as a terrorist militia in line with international norms and humanitarian principles.

On behalf of the Sudan Observatory for Human Rights, we appeal to all relevant human rights bodies, both domestic and international, to intervene decisively. Holding perpetrators accountable, safeguarding human rights, and adhering to established protocols and conventions are essential steps towards achieving justice and restoring peace for the people of Sudan.
